Christmas means holidays and we all need a holiday don't we? This year we decided it would be nice to catch fish, lots of fish! For those of us without a boat Elliston was the obvious choice, so it was on the phone to book at the Elliston caravan park on Ph (08) 86879061. You can also visit their web site: www.ellistoncaravanpark.com.au. In the holiday season it pays to book early, the park has undergone a lot of improvements over the last 12 months with more cabins more grass and a huge camp kitchen. With that done we only had to wait for Boxing Day and we attacked Elliston in two waves, the first four car loads left Boxing Day. Arriving mid afternoon gave them plenty of time to setup camp and still have a look around. The rest of us left 6am the following day and arrived at 1pm. On arrival we checked in with Troy and Andrea and after a quick howdoudo we set up camp.
After a bite to eat we headed straight for LOCKS WELL and the first taste of its sensational salmon fishing. The only down side to Locks is all the steps.....287 of them! If you venture to Locks well be sure to take in the views from the viewing platform and make use of the new toilets before heading down unless you enjoy climbing all those steps. Enough Salmon, Tommie Ruffs and Salmon trout were caught to feed all 20 hungry travelers. After a huge feed some of the little people accompanied by some of the big people headed down to the jetty to try their luck. Several hours later they returned with half a bucket of Tommies. If after a day with no luck on the beaches you can always save face on the jetty.
