Trip to the Grampians

On Good Friday, we set out down Highway 1 via Borderdown and Dimboola to Horsham. From there we went down the Henty Highway to Rocklands Reservoir. We spent the night at a camping ground on the western side of Rocklands Reservoir, away from the crowds at Hall's Gap. The campsite was clean, tidy, quiet and with an abundance of firewood. The first day was spent setting up camp and relaxing around the campfire. On the second day, we drove into the Grampians, over Victoria Range and up the Goat Track on Sarah Range, where there were many spectacular lookouts. From there, we headed into Hall's Gap to the Information Centre, where we found plenty of deer roaming free. Upon travelling into Hall's Gap, we were greeted by crowds of holiday makers. As such, we made only a brief stop for fuel and supplies.

From there, we visited McKenzie Falls, to find parking was at a premium wherever we ventured. Then, onto Wartook, and back to Rocklands Reservoir for a roast and another night around the campfire.

Easter Sunday led us to Black Range State Park for some bushwalking and spectacular scenery. We took the fire tracks back to our camp site to again sit around a camp fire and consume copious quantities of alcohol and prepare for a long drive home.

On Monday, we headed home via Balmoral, Edenhope, Naracoorte and Keith.
